NTL TRACK & FIELD: TOWANDA HAS ANOTHER STRONG SEASON (2026-06-12)

It was another successful track and field season for Towanda, but not quite the one they had hoped for. Brynn Woodruff earned her second straight state silver medal in the javelin, they had four state qualifiers in all, and several district qualifiers.

However, the Lady Knights went into the season hoping to raise an NTL banner, and came up just short to Wellsboro.

"Track is always tough because you have some kids who have great seasons and finish strong, and you feel great for those kids but then you have some who for one reason or another don't end up having the season they wanted and your heart breaks for those ones," said Towanda coach Casey Ellis. "Overall, though we had a pretty successful season. While we wanted to win NTLs we still had a strong showing, we had more kids qualify for districts and states than last year, the girls improved on their team finish at districts from last year, Brynn brought home another state medal, and we had many kids who don't typically get a ton of recognition hit PRs and improve."

Woodruff led the way in the javelin. She not only got another state silver, she repeated as the District IV champion, and was the NTL title holder, too.

Freshman Maris Cobb made states in the 3200, and nearly did so in the 100. Fellow freshman Emmett Klees also made states in the 3200.

Senior Marin Maynard took second at districts to qualify for states in the pole vault

The 4x800 relay of Mary-Kate Eberlin, Izzy Larson, Kylee Barnes, and Cobb narrowly made states for the third year in a row.

Jazick Brown was an NTL champion in the 100, while also making the podium at districts in the event.

Natalyn Morris (high jump), Eliana Cook (shot put), Mya Maynard (shot put, and Tanner Vanderpool (pole vault) all earned district medals.

Looking ahead to next season Towanda loses two big point getters in Woodruff and Mya Maynard, but return everybody else, including their entire 4x800 relay, giving them another shot at the NTL and states.
