Troy baseball posted another strong season, taking third in the NTL Large School Championships and qualifying for the district playoffs. All this despite quite a bit of roster turnover from the 2025 season.
"We had a great season finishing up 14-7," said Troy coach Lyle Wesneski. "Great senior class that really led by example and laid the foundation for years to come here at Troy. We have an outstanding group of young players that will continue to work to improve and continue the success here at Troy. We have a great coaching staff and outstanding parents- the future is very bright for Trojan Baseball."
The Trojans opened the season on a 3-game win streak where they scored a total of 49 runs, beating Wyalusing (16-3), Sullivan County (16-3), and NPM (17-13).
A pair of losses followed - South Williamsport (2-0) and Wellsboro (10-0) - but rebounded to beat Canton (7-1).
After another close loss to Wellsboro (8-4) then won five of their next six games, defeating Towanda (14-13) in a extra inning, multi-day thriller, Shamokin (13-11), Williamson (18-0), Wyalusing (21-5), and NPM (6-5).
They dropped a close loss to Athens (13-11) but rebounded to win five straight with victories over Towanda (7-3), NEB (18-3), Sayre (19-2), CV (8-7), and Canton (12-3).
The Trojans ended the regular season with a close loss to Athens (2-1) and then fell in the playoffs to Warrior Run (6-3).
Brendan Gilliland had a big year at the plate, hitting .478 with 23-RBI, 31 runs scored, four doubles, and two triples.
Mason Smith added a .438 average with a team high 42 runs scored to go with 14-RBI, two doubles, and two triples, while freshman Brody Ayres batted .417 with 16-RBI and three doubles.
Pryor Teribury hit .375 with 22-RBI and 18 runs scored, with Reed Palmer hitting .352 with a team high 29-RBI, nine doubles, and two home runs.
Logunn Heasley also hit over .300 with an average of .323 with 26 runs scored and 17-RBI. Logan Loxley was just under .300 at .296 with 22-RBI, three doubles, and 17 runs scored.
On the mound Frank Harper took the lion's share of innings - 44 1/3-innings - with a 3.00 ERA behind 51 strikeouts and 28 walks.
Palmer tossed 37-innings with a 3.97 ERA as he struck out 42 with 31 walks. Gilliland also time on the mound, tossing 17 1/3-innings with 20 strikeouts and a 2.02 ERA.
Vinnie Colton (12 2/3-innings) and Hunter Watson (12 2/3-innings) also reached double digits in innings pitched at the varsity level. Colton posted a 2.76 ERA.
