WELLSBORO — Canton came out scoring early as they pulled away from Wellsboro, 12-6, during District 15 Minors Softball pool play action Tuesday.

It was 2-1 Canton after one, with Canton scoring four more in the second to take a 5-run lead.

Wellsboro got one back in the top of the fourth, but a 5-run bottom half from Canton put them up 11-2.

Wellsboro out scored Canton 4-1 over the final two innings but were too far behind to get the comeback.

Madison (2-for-3) scored, and drove in a run for Canton as Ellie (1-for-1), Rhylin, and Alice all crossed home twice.

Leah (1-for-3) and Cate (1-for-2) both scored and drove in a run, with Kendall, Lola, Laila, and Emily all scoring.

Leah struck out 13 in the circle for Canton.

Canton will travel to Athens on Wednesday to start bracket play.
