MANSFIELD — Canton led going into the sixth but a 6-run top six from Athens pushed them to an 8-4 win during District 15 Minors softball elimination bracket action Sunday.

Athens led 1-0 after the second, but Canton rallied for two runs in the third. Athens would score in the fourth to make it 2-2.

In the bottom of the fifth Canton pushed two more across for a 2-run lead.

That's when Athens' big sixth inning came.

Kendall Groover (1-for-2) scored twice for canton as Leah Ross (1-for-2) scored and drove in a run.

Alonna Sheppard (1-for-2) also scored, as Rhylin VanValkenburg (1-for-2) had an RBI. Madison Schultz (1-for-3) also had a hit.

Ross fanned nine in the loss.
