YOUTH: TROY MINORS DROP HEARTBREAKER TO SAYRE (2026-06-29)

TROY — Troy Minors baseball lost a heartbreaker in extra innings to Sayre, 12-11 in seven, during the opening round of District 15 bracket play.

After a scoreless first Sayre led 1-0 going into the third. The two teams scored two runs in each there, followed by Troy putting up six runs in the top of the fourth for an 8-3 lead.

Sayre cut it to 8-6 with three runs in the bottom half.

Sayre out scored Troy 3-1 in the fifth to knot things up, with the two teams each scoring a run in the sixth.

Troy scored a run in the top of the seventh to take a lead, but Sayre got two in the bottom half for the walk-off win.

Clayton Morgan (3-for-4) had a triple, 2-RBI, and a run scored for Troy as Colton Petris (2-for-3) scored, and drove in a run.

Lincoln Bailey (2-for-4) doubled, scored, and drove in a run, as Braxton Spencer (1-for-4) tripled, scored, and had an RBI.

Corban Breckinridge (1-for-3) had a double with two runs scored, while Carter Redline (1-for-1) scored twice.

Drew Wheeler scored, and drove in a run, as Austin Blasz, and Reed Hurlburt both crossed home.

Miles Sparling started, and went 2 2/3-innings with six strikeouts, followed by Spencer going one-third of an inning.

Hurlburt came on for an inning with two strikeouts, with Jonas Schap going the first 2 1/3-innings with five strikeouts.

Troy will host the loser of Athens and Wellsboro on July 2.
