TOWANDA — Towanda Minors Baseball ended Troy's run of close wins, using a big second inning to down Troy 6-1 during District 15 elimination bracket action Monday.
Towanda led 1-0 after one, then pushed three across in the second. The lead got as big as 5-0 midway through the third when Troy got on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning.
Towanda's finals run came in the fifth.
Cole Williams (1-for-3) had a home run with 2-RBI as Rayden Bailey (2-for-2) scored three times.
Callan Willey (1-for-2) doubled and drove in a run with Maddox Hicks (2-for-3) also getting 2-RBI.
Chase Lewis (2-for-3) had a multi-hit game with Greyson Irvine and Gage Horton (1-for-2) both scoring.
Lewis started, and went three innings with six strikeouts. Irvine tossed an inning with two strikeouts, and Williams went the final two innings with three strikeouts.
For Troy Braxton Spencer (1-for-3) scored their run as Colton Petris (1-for-2), Austin Blasz (1-for-2), and Drew Wheeler (1-for-2) also had hits.
Petris started, and went 2 2/3-innings with seven strikeouts, while Reed Hurlburt went the final 3 1/3-innings with three strikeouts.
Towanda will host Canton on July 8.
