LEROY — Canton Minors Baseball held off a late charge from Alleghany Mountain, 11-10, to stay alive during District 15 elimination bracket action Monday.
Canton led 3-0 after one, then scored another run in the third. Alleghany got on the scoreboard with three runs in the top of the fourth to make it a 1-run game.
Canton came back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, then pushed three runs across in the fifth.
Alleghany Mountain took a short lead with a 7-run top sixth but in the bottom half Ike Preston drove in Huntley Thomasto tie the game, then Beau Bassett plated Hayden Stone for the walk-off win.
Camden Eberlin (2-for-3) scored twice, and drove in a two runs as Abe Pepper (2-for-3) drove in two runs while crossing home once.
Dean Pepper (2-for-3) scored twice, with Preston (2-for-4) getting the RBI.
Bassett (1-for-2) scored twice, and had an RBI as William Finogle (1-for-2) scored, and had an RBI.
Lee Hall (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with Dawson Hill, Thomas, and Stone (1-for-2) all scoring. Jett Dean (1-for-2) also had a hit.
Dean Pepper started, and went two innings with four strikeouts, followed by Finogle going three innings with five strikeouts.
Preston went two-thirds of an inning with Bassett going the final third to get the win, striking out one.
Canton moves into the final four as they travel to Towanda on July 8 in elimination bracket action.
