MANSFIELD — Refuse to lose. Many say it but for the past two days the Towanda Minors Softball team has lived by it as they secured their second straight walk-off win, this time rallying with a 5-run sixth inning to beat Warrior Run during Section III action Wednesday.
Losing 4-0 and down to their final three outs Towanda scored all four runs with two outs with Eme Maye scoring on a Violet White single to win the game.
Ava Popovich opened the inning with a double, followed by hits from Brylie Blumenauer and Olivia Willey to load the bases.
After a second out Charlee Wheeler drew a walk to score Popovich, then Maye cleared the bases with a triple to tie-up the game.
Towanda will now have two chances to claim the Section III title, beginning on Friday when they face the winner of Warrior Run-Jersey Shore.
Gracie Vanderpool struck 17 in six innings of action for Towanda with Maye (2-for-3) driving in three runs with the run scored.
Popovich (1-for-2), Kendra Cashdollar (1-for-3), White (1-for-3), Jonica Owen (1-for-2), Vanderpool (1-for-2), Blumenaur (1-for-2), and Willey (1-for-2) all had hits. Vanderpool and Popovich each had a double.
