MANSFIELD — Towanda's late rally came up short as they suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Warrior Run 3-2 during Section III Minors Softball action Friday.

This sets up a winner-take-all contest back at Mansfield on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start.

Warrior Run pushed two across in the third to take the lead, then added a run in the fourth.

Towanda struck back with a two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Defender defense held with the tying run on second.

Warrior Run was able to keep Towanda from getting on the base paths in the sixth.

It was a pitcher's duel with Towanda's Gracie Vanderpool striking out 14 while Warrior Runs' Eliza Solomon fanned 15.

Eme Maye (1-for-2) doubled and scored a run for Towanda as Charlee Wheeler also crossed home.

Jonica Owen (1-for-2) and Violet White each had an RBI.
