CORRY — Troy Junior Softball ended up second in the state at the Pennsylvania Little League Tournament on Friday.
Troy opened the day with a 5-2 win over DuBois to take the elimination bracket title. However, they fell in the night cap to West Suburban 11-0 in five innings.
In the win over DuBois they led 2-0 out of the gate, then added two more runs in the third. They went up 5-0 with a run in the top of the fifth, with DuBois rallying in the bottom half with two runs.
Troy held them scoreless the rest of the way to get the win.
Blaklee Bown (2-for-2) had a triple, a double, 2-RBI, and a run scored for Troy as Aubrey Knapp (1-for-2) doubled, scored, and drove in a run.
Kelsey Estep (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored, as Lydia Blasz (1-for-3) scored, and had an RBI.
Haleigh Shultz (1-for-3) had an RBI, Josie Van Noy (1-for-3) had a hit, and Mya Monro scored a run.
Lily Weaver started, and went four innings with four strikeouts. Brown came on for the final three innings with five strikeouts.
In the loss to West Suburban in the finale WS led 1-0 after one, then added eight runs in the second. They would score two more in the third for the 11-0 final.
Knapp (1-for-1) had the team's lone hit.
Weaver started, and went 1 1/3-innings, while Brown came on for the final 2 2/3-innings, striking out one.
