The list continues with a big game performance, excellence and consistency, and reaching the top podiums of the sport.

6. Troy's Brendan Gilliland breaks school record in district semifinal - It was the best single game individual performance of the year, and one of the best moments in Troy football history. On the road Troy's Brendan Gilliland ran for a school record 331-yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries in the 48-34 Trojan win. Gilliland had touchdown runs of 6-yards, 18-yards, 26-yards, 39-yards, and a 96-yard burst where he went untouched. It was part of a night where Troy had 473-yards of total offense. Gilliland had three touchdowns in the first 10 minutes of the game, then went nearly the distance of the football field early in the second quarter. His final touchdown run of the night came early in the third less than a minute after Warrior Run had scored. It was the high point of a season that saw the Trojans claim a third straight NTL title, and reached the district title game for the third straight season. Gilliland ended the season with 1,333-yards rushing and 21 scores while teammate Mason Smith pass and threw for over 1,000 yards with 38 combined touchdowns. While this Troy team didn't repeat as state champions, it etched its own legacy in the Trojan history books, with the win over Warrior Run an exclamation point.

5. A pair of girls throwers set the standard - Fans of the throws in track and field field were in Heaven this past Spring as two area hurlers combined to take home all three silvers in the throws at the PIAA Championships. Canton's Alexis McRoberts set records from day one this year in the shot put and discus, and continued that right through to districts where she won gold in both while rewriting the record books. At states she took home a state silver in the two events to cement her legacy as one of the best track and field athletes to come out of Canton. Towanda's Brynn Woodruff found success in the javelin as a junior, and repeated that as a senior. She will leave Towanda with the school record, two district titles, and two state silver medals. Her senior year she had the highest average of throws at states. The two will go down as two of the best throwers in NTL Track and Field history, and did it in the same season.

4. Two area wrestlers finish on the state podium this year - Two area wrestlers brought home gold from Hershey, one ending her high school career, the other just starting to hit his prime. NEB's Anaiah Kolesar finished fourth in the state for the third straight season, and made the state semifinals for the second time in her career. She had just one loss going into the PIAA Championships and finished the season 40-3, ending her career with 115 wins. Towanda's Gage Evans got on the medal round the hard way, going through the consolations. He won three straight bouts - two on Friday morning, and one in the blood round - to take seventh in the state. It capped off a 38-10 sophomore season, one which saw him claim a North Section title, and a Regional runner-up nod. While one is moving on, and the other has more chapters both of them etched their names into the illustrious NTL wrestling legacy.
