LADY LIGHTNING TAKE SECOND AT EYOTA TOURNAMENT (2026-08-02)

The Lady Lightning Blue 14U team took second at the rain shortened Eyota Softball Tournament on Sunday.

The Lighting went 3-3 over the weekend, but were unable to play in the title game due to the rain. The game was decided by seeding coming into bracket play, giving the Lady Lighting a second place finish.

The Lady Lightning went 1-2 on Saturday, falling to Eyota Nation 6-1 and Adrenaline Red 12-5 before beating Lady Chaos 15-0.

They won their first two games on Sunday, beating FSC Lady Royals 10-1 and Adrenaline Red 6-4. They got an inning into the title game before it was called due to rain.

In the loss to Eyota Nation Raya Preston (1-for-2) had the team's lone hit as Zoey Thetga scored the run driven in by Delaney Kendall.

Preston started, and went two innings with no strikeouts, one walk, two hits, and three runs, two of which were earned.

Layla Robinson went the final three innings with five strikeouts, one walk, five hits, and three earned runs.

In the loss to Adrenaline Ayla Wheeler (2-for-3) had 2-RBI as Karmyn McPherson (1-for-3) doubled, drove in two runs, and scored once herself.

Madilyn Callear (1-for-2) scored, as Robinson (1-for-1) crossed home twice. Emilie Maynard also scored, Preston (1-for-3) drove in a run, and Alexis McMurray (1-for-3) had a hit.

Maci Campbell went the first 1 2/3-innings with no strikeouts, two walks, eight hits, and eight runs, four of which were earned.

Callear tossed the final 3 1/3-innings with one strikeout, two walks, five hits, and four runs, three of which were earned.

In the win over Lady Chaos Callear (2-for-3) tripled, drove in two runs, and scored twice, with Preston (2-for-3) also getting 2-RBI with two runs scored. Wheeler scored twice, with 2-RBI, as McPherson crossed home three times while driving in a run.

McMurray (1-for-2) and Thetga (1-for-3) both doubled, drove in two runs, and scored once, as Campbell (1-for-2) scored, and drove in a run.

Robinson scored twice, Maynard crossed home once, and Kendall (1-for-2) had an RBI.

Preston struck out nine in three innings of action as she didn't allow a walk, hit, or run.

In the win over the Lady Royals Preston (2-for-3) had a double, 3-RBI, and three runs scored, with Thetga (2-for-2) getting a double with 3-RBI, and a run scored.

McPherson (2-for-3), and Callear (1-for-2), and McMurray all scored twice with McMurray also driving in a run.

Wheeler (1-for-1) doubled and drove in a run, with Maynard (1-for-2) getting 2-RBI. Robison (1-for-1) also had a hit.

Campbell struck out 10 in the win, allowing three hits, one earned run, and one walk.

In the win over Adrenaline McPherson (2-for-2) doubled and drove in a run as Kendall (1-for-2) scored, and had 2-RBI.

Callear (1-for-3) and Robinson (1-for-2) each scored, and drove in a run, as Maynard (1-for-2), Campbell (1-for-2), and Preston all scored. 

Wheeler (1-for-2) had an RBI with McMurray (1-for-3), and Thetga (1-for-3) each getting a hit.

Robinson struck out nine in the win, allowing five walks, four hits, and two earned runs.
