WELSBORO — Canton golf took seventh at their season opener at Wellsboro's Tyoga Country Club on Monday.

The Warriors shot 402 to go 1-6, besting Sayre (434). Towanda (305) won followed by Athens (327), Wellsboro (344), NP-Mansfield (350), CV (369), and Wyalusing (387).

Levi Vermilya shot 93 to lead Canton with Link Vermilya scoring a 99. Tommy Preston had 104, Gavin Sharp notched 106, Garret Parks added 110, and Sam Stafford had a 114.

Levi had two birdies on the day, one on the par-4 ninth and another on the par-5 14th hole.

Link finished with five pars, as Sharp notched three pars. Preston and Stafford had two pars each, while Parks finished with one.

Canton returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Towanda Golf Course for a 1 p.m. NTL match.
