WYALUSING — Mother Nature stole the show during Muncy's 45-0 win over Wyalusing in NTL football action Friday.

A severe storm caused a 2-hour delay in the Thursday night game, with the 6 p.m. contest not reaching a conclusion until 9:30.

Despite the final score the sky wasn't the only thing showing flashes on Thursday as the Rams showed some flashes on the field, just not enough to hang with the Indians.

"It's piecing it together," Wyalusing coach Jeff Hindman said. "I've asked these guys to learn a lot of new stuff this year - offense and defense - and doing things in different ways than what they're used to. And that's always going to be a big task for them. As a coach I think I need to do a better job of breaking it down during the week, and making sure that we can focus on the pieces so we can put them all together."

Quarterback Wiley Trobaugh was able to make some plays in the passing game, going 6-for-18 for 70 yards and two interceptions. He showed off good chemistry with Landry Tinna, who hauled in five passes for 56 yards.

The ground game was still a slog as they rushed for just 13 yards on 21 carries. Jacob Gromley led the way with 10 yards on nine touches, while Patrick O'Connor had six carries for six yards.

Defensively they showed promise agains the run. Take out the 60-yard touchdown run and the Indians ran for 95 yards on 31 carries.

Gromley, Jesse Lamb, and Trentyn Gardner all had tackles for loss in space on the day, while Conner Earle blocked an extra point.

Pass defense was another matter as the two Muncy quarterbacks combined for 12-for-15 for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Freshman quarterback Noah Walters was 8-for-10 for 131 yards and two scores to lead Muncy, with Cullen Reed the top target. He hauled in four passes for 73 yards and a score.

Kynton Fish had a 50 yard touchdown catch, while Jaxson Thomason, Layken Harris, Rogers, Walters, and Ajay Zuniga all had rushing touchdowns.

They also forced Muncy in a few third and even fourth down situations, but just couldn't come up with the big play they needed to stop the drive.

"They're giving it everything they've got," said Hindman. "We started to come together a little bit tonight. It's early in the season, it's a young team. A lot of these guys this is their first taste of varsity football. I'm proud of them because they're standing up there, they're taking the hits, and not backing down. I couldn't be any prouder of this team right now because we've had two really tough games."

Muncy's first score was a 2-yard run from Harris set up by a 46-yard hook-up between Weikle and Rogers on 4th-and-16 at the 48.

Nolan Trostle added the point after for a 7-0 lead with 8:59 on the clock.

The second Indian score was Rogers' 60-yard run on their first play from scrimmage during their second drive. Trostle's kick was good for a 14-0 lead with 6:26 on the clock.

Muncy scored late in the quarter as Walters hit Fish for a 50-yard hook-up. The extra point was blocked as the Indians led 20-0 with 26 seconds left in the first quarte.r

The fourth Muncy touchdown was a 2-yard run from Walters with 7:39 on the clock in the second quarter. They were able to convert a 4th-and-7 near midfield to keep the drive alive.

That's when the storm hit, putting a stop to the game until after night had fallen.

The Indians would get two touchdowns in the final six minutes of the half - a 2-yard run from Thomas, followed by a 21-yard pass play of Walters to Reed in the final five seconds of the half.

Trostle went 1-for-2 on the kicks for a 39-0 lead heading into the half.

The final Muncy score was a 3-yard run from Zuniga with 9:33 left to play.

Wyalusing hits the road next week as they travel to Canton for a 7 p.m. Friday night contest.

"They're going to be back at it, giving it everything they've got," said Hindman.
