Northern Tier Sports Report
Labor Day week means a shorter schedule but it still packed to the brim with contests. Area teams meet in football, there's cross-over action in volleyball, and soccer continues with league contests.
FOOTBALL
Friday, September 11
Wyalusing (0-2) at Canton (1-1), 7 p.m.: Both teams are coming off tough losses to Small School competitors, with the Rams falling to Muncy, and Canton to Montgomery. This will be the third home game in a row for the Warriors.
Towanda (2-0) at Troy (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Knights have scored over 100 points so far this season in their wins the first two weeks. Troy is coming off a big 31-21 win over Athens. This will be the third straight home game for the Trojans.
BOYS SOCCER
Tuesday, September 8
Wyalusing (0-4) at Williamson (3-0), 4 p.m.: The tough early season slate continues for the Rams as they head out west to take on an undefeated Warrior squad. Williamson has out scored opponents 14-2 so far this season.
Towanda (3-0) at Galeton (2-0), 5:30 p.m.: The Knights are riding high off their win over Wellsboro earlier this week. The Tigers have out scored opponents 12-2 this season.
Troy (0-4) at Athens (2-0), 6 p.m.: The Trojans will face an Athens team that is undefeated so far this season.
Thursday, September 10
Troy (0-4) at Wyalusing (0-4), 4 p.m.: Something will have to give as these two young teams meet up this week.
Athens (2-0) at Towanda (3-0), 6 p.m.: Another tough test for the upstart Knights as they return home for this contest. The Wildcats have out scored teams 19-1 this year.
Saturday, September 12
Troy (0-4) at Loyalsock (1-1), 11 a.m.: Another road game for the busy Trojans as they play three contests in five days.
GIRLS SOCCER
Wednesday, September 9
Wellsboro (1-1) at NEB (0-2), 4 p.m.: NEB has had a good showing against two strong opponents to start the season, while Wellsboro is coming off a win over Wyalusing.
Wyalusing (2-2) at NP-Mansfield (1-1), 4 p.m.: NPM has a win over Meadowbrook, and a loss to Towanda so far this season.
Troy (2-2) at Towanda (2-0), 6 p.m.: The Trojans have rolled through the early part of their league schedule, while the Knights will have been off for a week before this game.
Saturday, September 12
Williamson (0-1) at NEB (0-2), 10 a.m.: The Panthers' early season run of home games continues with their fourth straight to start the season.
Wyalusing (2-2) at Troy (2-2), 11 a.m.: Both teams have been up and down to start the year, but they hope to have turned a corner with recent wins.
Athens (1-1) at Towanda (2-0), noon: The Knights have started the season strong as Athens is coming off a pair of 1-goal games.
VOLLEYBALL
Tuesday, September 8
CV (1-2) at Towanda (3-1), 7 p.m.: The Knights are coming off a loss to Montoursville as they take on this crossover match-up.
Troy (0-2) at Williamsport (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Millionaries are coming off a 3-0 win over Lake Lehman as Troy looks to rebound from early season losses.
Sayre (1-2) at Wyalusing (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Rams return home after their rallying win over Troy. Sayre is coming off a loss to Canton.
NEB (0-2) at Wellsboro (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Panthers have won three sets so far this season but have yet to turn that into a match win.
Athens (1-1) at Canton (2-1), 7 p.m.: The busy Warriors will host the Wildcats in cross-over action. Canton is coming off a win over Sayre. The Wildcats fell to NPL recently.

Towanda (3-1) at Athens (1-1), 7 p.m.: A key divisional match-up as the Knights look to stay undefeated in league play.
Troy (0-2) at NPL (1-2), 7 p.m.: NPL is coming off a big win over Athens last week.
Wyalusing (1-1) at Wellsboro (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Rams head west to take on a Hornets squad that's also been up and down to start the year.
Williamson (3-0) at NEB (0-2), 7 p.m.: The Panthers take on the red hot Warriors.
Saturday, September 12
Wyalusing (1-1) at Montrose, 10 a.m.: The Rams head to Susquehanna County for a non-league match-up.

Tuesday, September 8
Towanda, Wellsboro at Wyalusing, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams play hosts for the second week in a row as the Knights boys and girls look to stay undefeated.
Canton at NEB, 4:30 p.m.: A Small School dual match with the Panthers coming off a pair of wins last week while the Warriors had three losses.
CV, Sullivan County, at Troy, 4:30 p.m.: A home meet for the Trojans as they welcome the Griffins, who swept in their dual meet last week.
GOLF
Tuesday, September 8
NTL Tri-match at Wyalusing, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams play host to 9-hole league golf action.
Wednesday, September 9
Wyalusing at Nanticoke, 3:30 p.m.: More 9-hole golf action for the Rams as they hit the road for this non-league.
Thursday, September 10
Canton, Wyalusing at CV, 4:30 p.m.: The two teams head to River Valley for 9-hole league action.
GIRLS TENNIS
Towanda at Wellsboro, 4 p.m.: The Knights head west for this league match. The Hornets swept them earlier in the season.
