ATHENS — Towanda had over 300 yards of total offense but couldn't find a way to slow down Athens as they lost 48-21 during NTL football action Friday.

The Wildcats scored on their first six drives of the game, taking a 35-14 lead into the locker rooms. 

Athens' Connor Davidson had over 300-yards of total offense - going 15-for-18 for 193-yards with two touchdowns, and a pick, while running the ball for 148-yards and three scores on 21 carries.

Shea Davidson came off the bench to go 6-for-9 for 77-yards and two scores.

Three different Athens receivers hauled in touchdowns catches - Kade Rowe had nine catches for 114-yards and two scores, Gage Marmor hauled in four catches for 102-yards and a score, and Lucas Person had three catches for 54-yards, and a score.

The Knights did run for 227-yards on 29 carries, led by Gage Evans' 12 carries for 107 yards, while Jazick Brown added 83-yards on seven touches.

Reese Sluyter was 7-for-11 for 99-yards with a touchdown, and two interceptions. He also had a touchdown run.

Brown was his top target, with five catches for 79-yards, and a score.

Athens opened up the game with a 10-play, 68-yard drive that ended with a Connor Davidson 4-yard run. Zach Fisher hit the point after for a 7-0 lead with 6:25 on the clock.

The Knights answered with a 5-play, 69-yard scoring drive of their own.

It started with an 8-yard Brown run, followed by a 28-yard Sluyter to Brown hook-up.

After a pair of Athens penalties a 10-yard Evans run set up Sluyter's 1-yard plunge to pay dirt. Brayden Spencer's kick was good, and it was 7-7 with 5:06 on the clock.

Athens came back with a 6-play, 85-yard scoring drive that ended with a Connor Davidson 29-yard scoring run. Fisher's kick made it 14-0.

After a Towanda punt Athens needed just one play for their third score of the quarter, a 53-yard hook-up of Connor Davidson to Marmor with no time left on the clock. Fisher's kick made it 21-7 at the break.

Shea Davidson came out to lead the offense to start the second quarter as Athens want on an 8-play, 53-yard scoring drive that ended on an 11-yard pass from Shea to Rowe.

She had a key pass play to brother Connor, while Brendan Cooke had a 12-yard run to set up the score.

Fisher's kick was good and it was 28-7.

Towanda would find the end zone on their ensuing drive, a 5-play, 64-yard scoring campaign.

A third-and-21 possible fumble by the Knights turned into an inadvertent whistle.

On the do-over Sluyter hit Brown for a 15-yard strike, with a roughing the passer call giving them a new set of downs.

Two plays later Sluyter finds Brown for a 36-yard scoring strike, with Spencer's kick making it 28-14.

Athens had the final say, though, as they went on a 6-play, 70-yard drive that ended with a Connor Davidson 31-yard pass to Rowe with 13 seconds left. Fisher's kick made it 35-14.

The Knights got the ball to start the second half, but their drive fizzled at the Athens 39-yard line.

That led to a 16-play, 61-yard Athens drive that chewed off seven minutes of the clock, and ended with a Connor Davidson 1-yard scoring run.

After three consecutive interceptions She Davidson capped the Wildcat scoring with a 42-yard pass to Persun with 4:15 left in the game.

Fisher's kick made it 48-14.

Towanda ended the game on a high note as they had a 5-play, 74-yard drive that featured a 36-yard run by Evans, and an 18-yard run from Curtis Maynard.

Evans punched it in from 2-yards out for the score with 55 seconds left, with Spencer's kick making it a 48-21 final.
