ROME — Sullivan County went 1-1 at the NEB girls soccer tournament on Saturday.

The Griffins lost the opener 4-0 to Midd-West, but then defeated Mountain View in penalty kicks to take third. It was 3-3 after regulation when Sullivan won 4-3 in penalty kicks.

In the loss to Midd-West Charley Insinger made 19 saves in net as the Griffins were out shot 14-2. The Mustangs also had an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

In the win over Mountain View Quinn Pennella had a hat trick, with Finley McCarty getting an assist.

It was 2-1 at the half as Pennella scored off a penalty kick at the 17:58 mark.

Sullivan tied it up early in the second half as McCarty found Pennella for the equalizer.

At the 18:13 mark Pennella put the Griffins up 3-2, but Mountain View scored four minutes later.

In the penalty shootout an Insinger save proved to be the difference.

Sullivan out shot Mountain View 5-4 while Mountain View had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Insinger finished with eight saves.
