Troy's Alli Bailey and Haidyn Watson have been key contributors to their program's success the past two years, and last week that success showed up in the form of two different milestones.

The senior, Alli Bailey, has been holding down the libero for Troy for the past three seasons, and reached one of the highest honors a libero can get - 1,000 kills.

"It feels amazing to hit such a huge milestone," said Bailey. 

On the same night the junior Watson hit 500 digs in her third year of playing on the backline.

"It feels absolutely incredible," said Watson. "It’s proof that hard work does pay off."

It's rare that two teammates can reach a milestone in the same night, but for these two, this moment will be intertwined with the other.

"Haidyn is a great player so it’s great to see her hit a milestone, and kind of celebrate it together," Bailey said.

Watson feels the same.

"It’s so special to me for both of us to reach these milestones together in the same game," she said. "Alli and I have played back row together for three years. She works so hard and it makes me so happy we could do this together. I’m so proud of her. I would not have wanted to have reached this milestone without her by my side."

The two have helped Troy to two league titles the last two years, and a district championship last year. 

Things have been a little tougher this year, but Bailey still believes they can finish the season strong.

"I think it’ll help boost our confidence for the rest of the season," she said. "We just need to keep working hard." 

As for Watson, this will spur her on to keep pushing.

"It motivates me to go after other milestones because it’s shows hard work and determination can lead to success," she said. "I’m very motivated in all the sports I play to achieve other milestones that I can look back on and know I always gave my best effort for my teammates and I."
