MANSFIELD — Troy shook off a slow start to pull away from Hughesville for a 35-13 win during District IV, Class AA football quarterfinal action Friday.

The win sets up a date at the defending state champions, Southern Columbia, next Friday.

Jayden Kutt was a workhorse, running the ball 31 times for 159-yards and one score while Evan Allen added 11 carries for 77-yards and Spencer Martin had 10 touches for 70-yards and two touchdowns.

All in all Troy ran for 357-yards on 58 carries.

Through the air Spencer Martin was 8-for-16 for 126-yards and two touchdowns with Trey Teribury hauling in three catches for 35-yards and a score, and Kutt getting a 32-yard touchdown catch.

Josiah Pesesky added three catches for 49-yards.

Defensively Logunn Heasley and Pesesky each had an interception.

For Hughesville Chad Shrawder got the yeoman's carries, with 16 touches for 139-yards and one touchdown.

Nicholas Stubbs was 8-for-27 for 100-yards with one score and two picks.

Connor Anstadt had five catches for 72-yards, and Julian Smith added three receptions for 28-yards and a score.

Troy struck first as Martin hit Teribury for a 20-yard scoring strike with 7:52 left in the first quarter. Landon Lee added the point after for a 7-0 lead.

Shrawder would knot things up at 7-all with 7:19 left in the half with a 2-yard touchdown run, as Anstadt's kick made it 7-7.

Troy struck with 4:22 left in the quarter as Martin hit Kutt for a 32-yard touchdown pass. Lee's kick made it 14-7.

Just over a minute later Stubbs hit Smith for a 16-yard touchdown pass, though the kick missed for a 14-13 score.

Troy had the final say of the half as Kutt ran one in from 7-yards out, with Lee's kick making it 21-13 at the break.

The Trojans scored in each quarter of the second half, beginning with a 10-yard Martin run with 5:53 left in the third.

In the fourth Martin had a 1-yard run to seal the win with 7:32 remaining.

Lee nailed the extra point both times.
