
TIOGA — Canton used a 5-run third inning to propel themselves to a 12-5 win over Williamson during NTL softball action Monday.
Sara Saar (3-for-5) had two doubles, 4-RBI, and a run scored for Canton, as Molly Ward (3-for-5) also had 4-RBI with a run scored.
Keri Wesneski (2-for-4) and Taryn Acla (2-for-3) both scored three times, while Wesneski had 2-RBI.
Madison Hulbert (2-for-4) had a double with 2-RBI, and Rylin Graham (2-for-4) scored twice. Mae Kinner (1-for-5) had a double and scored a run, while Emmi Ward also crossed home.
Wesneski got the win in the circle, striking out seven with five walks, seven hits, and five runs, three of which were earned.
After two scoreless inning, Canton got going in the third as Ward drew a 1-out walk, followed by four straight Canton hits - including a Saar double - gave them a 4-run rally. The final run came on a Hulbert hit, which scored Saar to make it 5-0.
Williams would cut it to 5-4 after the bottom half of the inning, but Canton tacked on three more runs in the fourth.
Graham, Acla, and Wesneski would all score as Molly Ward and Saar had the big hits, making it 8-4. Canton would also get a run in the fifth as Graham hit a 1-out single, and later scored.
Canton made it 10-4 in the sixth with Kinner hitting a 1-out double, then scoring on a Hulbert double.
Their final two runs came in the seventh, as Acla and Wesneski had back to back hits, and eventually scored, as Saar came away with another big hit.
Canton (12-4) will travel to Troy on Tuesday.
