ON TAP TODAY: TRACK WILL CROWN AN NTL CHAMPION, A FEW BIG GAMES ON THE DIAMOND (2022-05-13)

Northern Tier Sports Report
A busy day as track and field will crown the NTL champions, along with a few big games on the diamond.

TRACK & FIELD

NTL Championships at Athens, 1:30 p.m.: Field events begin at 1:30 p.m., while the track starts with the preliminaries at 3 p.m. Both girls and boys could be wide open.

BASEBALL

Sayre (16-1) at Wyalusing (16-2), 4:30 p.m.: A match-up of the two NTL champions this year. The Rams have lost two of their last three, but if they can get a win here, it might propel them back to the top of the district standings.

Hughesville (13-4) at Troy (6-10), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans are coming off a tough loss to Canton as they take on the second ranked team in the District IV, Class AAA standings. Troy needs a win here to keep their playoff hopes alive.

SOFTBALL

Canton (14-4) at Montgomery (14-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors get their shot at the defending district champions right before the playoffs start. A win might also be enough to give Canton a home first round game for the playoffs.

NP-Liberty (11-5) at NEB (12-1), 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers are trying to hold on to the top seed in the district playoffs, and a win here should guarantee themselves of that. NPL is trying to hold off Bloomsburg for a hope playoff game, and a win against NEB might be enough to do that.

Troy (4-10) at Towanda (5-11), 4:30 p.m.: The Knights are coming off a ‘Pink Game’ win over Wellsboro as they look to finish off the season strong. Troy’s last win came against Towanda, so they’re looking for the season sweep.
