Towanda may have gone 2-14-2 on the season, but the Lady Knights had their moments.
They tied two playoff teams, Williamson (2-2) and Athens (1-1), while sweeping the season series with North Penn-Mansfield (3-0, 2-0).
Their season, though, was marred with five one-goal losses, and three two-goal losses.
They fell to Shamokin (1-0) in the season opener, while also losing tight contests to NEB (2-1), Wellsboro (1-0, twice), Wyalusing (2-1), Troy (2-0), Williamson (3-1), and Warrior Run (3-1).
“Although our record doesn’t show it, we had a good season,” said coach Greg Neyer. “We had a lot of close games that could have gone either way, and the girls showed tremendous growth throughout the season.”
They lose six key seniors in Kelsea Allen-Smith, Athena Chacona, Eliza Fowler, NTL all-star Bella Hurley, Hailey Kapichok, and Maddie Packard, though NTL all-stars Kathryn Dunn and Anna Dunn both return.
They also bring back six freshmen, including keeper Clara Glantz, along with key juniors Molly Larcom and Abby Locke.
“We may be losing some talented seniors, but we have a strong foundation to build on for next season,” said Neyer.
