NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TROY USES BIG SECOND QUARTER TO TOP CANTON (2023-12-22)

CANTON — Troy held Canton to just five points over the final three quarters of the game to win, 69-17, during NTL boys’ basketball action Friday.

Lincoln Chimics led Troy with 20 points, five boards, and three steals, while Colin Loveland scored 14 points.


Lance Heasley finished with 11 points, as Jack Burbage had 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.


Evan Woodward netted six points to go with four boards, four assists, and two steals, with Trevon Teribury getting four points. Jackson Taylor and Joseph Frye had two points each, with Taylor adding five assists, and six steals, as Frye dished out three assists.


Ben Fitch led Canton with 10 points, on 4-for-6 shooting inside the arc, to go with two blocks. Brayden Vroman had two points and two blocks, with Monte Whitehead and Gunnar Resavage also scoring two points apiece; Rylan Wesneski chipped in with one point.


Loveland had the hot hand early for Troy, netting eight first quarter points, while Woodward hit two 3-balls. Fitch, though, scored all 10 of his points in the first quarter as the Trojans led 22-12.


Troy turned up the defense in the second quarter, holding the Warriors scoreless, while netting 21 points themselves. Chimics led the way with 11 points.


The Trojans out scored Canton 19-3 in the third quarter as Burbage had six, and Chimics netted five.


Canton (4-5) is off until the New Year, while Troy (7-0) will face Seton Catholic on December 28 at the Josh Palmer Fund Tournament.
