NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: WYALUSING FALLS TO JERSEY SHORE (2023-12-29)

HUGHESVILLE — Wyalusing fell to Jersey Shore, 69-36, during the opening round of the Bill Babcock boys’ basketball tournament Friday.

The Bulldogs led just 16-13 after the first quarter but used a 17-point second frame to take a 33-19 lead at the half.


Wyalusing tried to stay within striking distance in the third quarter, but a 20-point final frame for Jersey Shore sealed the win.


Nick Vanderpool Jr. had 11 points to lead Wyalusing as Zabiah Walton finished with 10. Trehnon Hugo scored nine, Parker Petlock added four, and Kenny Mapes finished with two.


Ben Dalton led Jersey Shore with 19 points.


Dalton had seven points in the opening quarter for the Bulldogs, while Hugo netted five for the Rams. Vanderpool and Walton had four points apiece.


Wyalusing had just six second quarter points as five different Jersey Shore players scored to push their lead to 14 points at the break.


The Bulldogs used a 16-point third quarter to take a 19-point lead after three, then held Wyalusing to just two field goals in the fourth for the win.


Wyalusing will face Sullivan County on the consolation game at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
