NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: BENNETT'S BIG NIGHT LEADS WYALUSING PAST WELLSBORO (2024-01-12)

WELLSBORO — Chloe Bennett went off for 27 points as she led Wyalusing to a 47-37 win over Wellsboro during NTL girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The victory ends Wyalusing’s 3-game slide as they get back to .500 on the season.


Bennett was efficient, shooting 9-for-14 overall and 5-for-8 from deep, while adding five steals.


Alysha Botts finished with nine points and three boards, as Emily Johns and Rachel Wilson had four points apiece. Wilson grabbed 12 boards with Johns getting three steals.


Alyssa Sterling had two points, with Yulonda Torres getting one point and three rebounds.


Maddy Mascho led the Hornets with 18 points.


Wellsboro led 12-9 after the opening quarter as Botts scored four points in the frame to lead the Rams. 


Bennett then went off in the second, netting 11 points, including two 3-balls, as part of a 16-point Wyalusing effort to propel them to a 25-21 lead at the break.


Bennett stayed hot in the third, scoring eight points, while Botts hit a 3-pointer, with the Rams extending their lead to 40-30.


Wyalusing kept Wellsboro at bay in the fourth, holding them to just nine points, as they nabbed the 10-point win.


Wyalusing (6-6) hosts NP-Mansfield next week in a game that has big district standing implications.
