NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: CANTON FALLS TO NP-LIBERTY (2024-01-31)

CANTON — A rough second half saw Canton fall to NP-Liberty, 64-36, during NTL boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

They were down just 31-23 at the half, but only scored 13 points the rest of the way.


Ben Fitch had 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting from inside the arc, to go with 13 boards to get the double-double.


Lance Route had eight points and two steals, as Talin Williams had six points and four boards.


Brayden Vroman netted four points to go with four rebounds, as Andrew Smith scored three points. Monte Whitehead chipped in with two points and two steals.


Adynn Wheeland led NPL with 16 points.


It was a high scoring first half with NPL taking a 17-14 lead at the first horn behind six points from Wheeland. Route scored all eight of his points in the opening frame, including two 3-balls.


Wheeland stayed hot, scoring eight in the second quarter as the Mounties were able to open up a little bit of a lead. Four different Warriors scored in the frame.


In the third NPL pulled out a 17-4 quarter, with Fitch scoring all of Canton’s points. Fitch would go off for seven fourth quarter points to try and bring the Warriors back, but NPL hit seven field goals in the fourth to pull away.


Canton (6-12) will host CV in their final home league contest on Friday.
