ROME — NEB softball downed Sullivan County, 10-0 in five innings during non-league action Saturday.
Ava Lambert (2-for-3), Toni Herb (2-for-3), and Hannah Berger (2-for-3) combined for 6-for-9 on the day. Lambert had a triple, 2-RBI with two runs scored, Berger had a double with an RBI and a run scored, and Herb scored twice.
Orissa Gardner (1-for-3) scored with an RBI as Makenna Callear (1-for-3) drove in a run and crossed home herself. Melanie Shumway (1-for-3) and Alexis Corter (1-for-3) both scored.
Callear got the win, striking out eight with five hits, no walks, and no runs.
After a scoreless first NEB pushed four across in the second behind with a Berger hit. Herb also had a hit, with Gardner driving in a run. Lambert followed that up with a hit, while all four girls scored.
In the fourth Corter led off with a hit followed by Gardner reaching on an error. Both scored on a Lambert triple, who later scored on a passed ball.
Callear would walk followed by Shumway reaching on a hit - both would score to make it 9-0.
In the fifth Herb led off with a hit, then scored the winning run on a 2-out Callear single.
On Friday NEB lost 13-1 to CV as the Indians scored 10 runs in the second inning.
Berger (2-for-2) was perfect from the plate while DeLancey (1-3) and Shumway (1-for-3) both had hits. Shumway also had an RBI.
Herb (1-for-2) had a hit while Lambert scored the run.
NEB scored their run in the third as Lambert led off with a walk, and later scored on a Shumway hit.
NEB (5-3) will get another shot at CV on Monday at their place wit ha 4:30 p.m. start.
