NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO'S RALLIES PAST TROY IN 4TH FOR WIN (2021-02-19)

WELLSBORO — Wellsboro out scored Troy 15-7 in the final quarter to pick up the NTL girls’ basketball win, 43-36, Friday.

Sydney Taylor had 15 points to lead Troy as Hannah Zimmerman netted eight. MaKenna Matthews scored six, Rachel Kingsley netted five and Katie Lackey notched two.


Emma Coolidge led the Hornets with 12 points as Bailey Monks notched eight. Kiyah Boyce and Rilie Boyce had seven points apiece with Abbye Cavanaugh scoring five. Sarah mother and Kathryn Burnett both scored two points each.


The teams were even after the first quarter at 13-all. Troy hit three 3-pointers as Taylor had five points, while the Hornets were 7-for-8 from the free throw line, led by Coolidge’s five points.


An 11-6 run in the second gave the Trojans a 24-19 lead at the break. Troy hit three more 3-pointers in the frame, led by Taylor’s five points.


Wellsboro rallied in the third, out scoring Troy 9-5, to cut it to 29-28. 


Then, in the final frame, Coolidge had five more points to lead the Hornets to the win.


Troy will host CV on Saturday at 1 p.m.
