ELMIRA, N.Y. — Troy girls’ basketball used a big second half to rally past North Rockland, 63-52, during National Bracket action at the Josh Palmer Fund Tournament Sunday.
North Rockland led 32-25 at the half, but Troy used an 18-8 run to take a 43-40 lead after three. The Trojans would score 21 fourth quarter points to bring home the win.
Four different Trojans scored in double-figures, led by Giana Renzi’s 18 points, while Gloria Andrews netted 14. Both of them had four 3-balls on the night.
Kailyn Sterling also scored 14, while Alyssa Parks netted 13. Madelyn Seeley, and Kyah Renzo scored two points apiece.
Jaidah Arce, and Kiki Daly had 14 points to lead North Rockland.
Troy led 15-12 after one as Parks and Andrews had five points each. North Rockland rallied with a 20 point second frame behind six points from Kaitlin Casey, and Daly each to take the lead at the half.
In the third Sterling took command, scoring seven of Troy’s 18 points as she went 3-for-8 from the charity stripe. Andrews and Renzi both hit 3-balls as the Trojans retook the lead.
Renzi then got hot in the fourth with a nine point frame to bring the win home.
Troy will face Horseheads in the fifth place game at Ernie Davis Academy on Monday with a 12:30 p.m. start.
