NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: CANTON FALLS AT SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT (2025-01-02)

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — Canton fell to South Williamsport, 59-30, during non-league boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Warriors were down just 11 points going into the final frame when the Mounties rattled off 25 points in the fourth to pull away for the win.


Ben Fitch had 12 points to lead Canton, with Talin Williams adding 10. Ryder Route scored five, and Andrew Smith rounded out the Warriors with three.


Radley Knapp led South with 17 points, including three 3-balls.


Fitch netted seven of his 12 points in the first quarter but Canton found themselves down 13-8 at the first horn. 


The second quarter was tight, with South out scoring Canton just 14-13, as Williams had five points for the Warriors, along with Route and Fitch hitting 3-balls.


Canton managed just two points in the third, but held South to seven, going into the fourth down 34-23. That’s when the Mounties got hot, hitting 10 field goals in the final frame, three of them from deep.


Canton (4-4) will host NEB on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. start.
