NTL SWIMMING & DIVING: TOWANDA BOYS ROLL PAST ELK LAKE, GIRLS COME UP SHORT (2025-01-03)

TOWANDA — The Towanda boys rolled to a 105-42 win over Elk Lake in non-league swimming action Friday, while the Lady Knights fell 136-23.

Towanda had one district qualifier in Nolan Deacon, who swam 26.64 in the 50 free.


“There were many swimmers that finished with their best times,” said Towanda coach Hannah Deacon. “Every meet Towanda swimmers are improving their times.”


On the boys’ side Towanda’s team of Sean Lauber, Lincoln Shanks, Deacon, and Shane Maghamez won the 200 medley relay in 2:20.05.


The Knights then went 1-2-3 in the 200 free, led by Lauber (2:19.36). He was followed by Alex Lantz (2:20.56), and then Kenneth Carle (2:45.45). Shanks then took second in the 200 IM in 2:58.37.


Brennick Lain (26.63) won the 50 free, followed by Deacon (26.64), and Lantz (27.99) for another 1-2-3 finish. Lain also won the diving in 168.80.


Xander Pratt (1:10.18) was second in the 100 free followed by Maghamez (1:11.12), and Nathan Little (1:20.75).


Lauber (6:29.21), and Carle (7:12.19) went 2-3 in the 500 free.


Towanda’s 200 free relay team of Lantz, Lain, Lauber, and Curtis Carter won in 1:54.41. Their team of Deacon, Shanks, Carle, and Little was second in 2:00.70, while Pratt, Matthew Weinman, Maghamez, and Braydin Mattison was third in 2:12.87.


Deacon (1:13.14), and Carter (1:34.87) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke.


The Knights went 1-2-3 in the 100 breaststroke with a Shanks (1:37.50), Weinman (1:39.25), and Pratt (1:48.60).


Towanda’s foursome of Lantz, Carle, Lain, and Pratt won the 400 free relay in 4:27.73. The team of Weinman, Carter, Little, and Maghamez was third in 5:00.39.


On the girls’ side Morgan Lamphere (3:09.32) was fourth in the 200 free, while Marin Maynard (35.21), Kylee Barnes (35.57), and Allexys Shaffer (38.22) were fourth through sixth in the 50 free.


Katelyn Blokzyl (1:19.16) was second in the 100 free, followed by Fertile Roth (1:27.46) third. Lamphere (8:25.21) took third in the 500 free.


Towanda’s foursome of Barnes, Roth, Shaffer, and Blokzyl was fourth in the 200 free in 2:29.66. Barnes (1:35.29) was third in the 100 backstroke, with Maynard (1:40.24) third in the 100 breaststroke.
