LAPORTE — Sullivan County fell to Northwest, 59-38, during Mid-Penn boys’ basketball action Saturday.
The Rangers jumped out to a 19-11 first quarter lead, though Sullivan out scored them 11-10 in the second to cut it to 29-22 at the half.
Northwest pushed their lead to 11 points after three, then scored 16 fourth quarter points to pull away.
Lucas King had 15 points on four 3-balls to lead the Griffins, while Cayden Smithkors added six points and seven boards.
Tucker Blasi netted six points, as Justin Hemighaus notched four. Dominic Marotti chipped in with three, as Colin King, and Jaiden Moore had two points a piece.
Josh Miner led Northwest with 29 points, including seven 3-pointers.
In the first quarter the Rangers jumped out early behind seven points from Miner, and Jace McCoy each. Lucas King kept Sullivan close with nine points off three 3-pointers.
In the second the Griffins held Northwest to just three field goals as they had five themselves, with Blasi scoring four to pace Sullivan.
Lucas King scored six more in the third, but Miner went off for 10 to help Northwest out score the Griffins 14-10.
In the final frame Miner hit three 3-balls to pace Northwest’s effort as they got the win.
Sullivan won the JV game 46-43 behind 17 points from Hemighaus.
Sullivan (7-3) hosts St. John Neumann on Saturday.
