NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: CANTON FALLS TO NP-MANSFIELD (2025-01-06)

MANSFIELD — Canton came up short as they fell to NP-Mansfield, 41-35, during NTL girls’ basketball action Monday.

The Warriors were down six going into the fourth, and had their strongest quarter offensively in the final frame, but couldn’t close the gap.


Kendall Kitchen had 14 points, and five steals to lead Canton, as Cailyn VanNoy netted eight points to go with three assists, and four steals.


Lydia Roupp notched eight points, with Cheyenne Fitched scoring three. Alexis McRoberts chipped in with two points, and two steals.


Kameron Lightner led NPM with 17 points, as Reagan Watkins netted 14.


NPM jumped out to an 11-7 first quarter lead behind five points from Lightner, and four from Watkins, while Kitchen paced Canton with five points.


Canton out scored NPM 8-7 in the second as Roupp netted four points, putting the Tigers up 18-15 at the half.


NPM won the third quarter, 11-8, as Lightner and Watkins had four points each.


In the fourth Kitchen netted five, with VanNoy scoring four as canton tried to rally, but Lightner closed things out with six of her team’s 12 points to secure the win.


Canton (5-4) travels to NEB on Wednesday.
