LIBERTY — Troy led big but saw NP-Liberty rattle off 28 straight points as the Mounties rallied past the Trojans, 40-34, in NTL wrestling action Tuesday.
Troy led 34-12 after eight weights, but NPL won the final five matches - four of them by fall or forfeit - to get the dual meet win.
Marcus Frisbie (139) put the Trojans ahead with a forfeit, followed by teammate Logunn Heasley (145) scoring a fall.
Carter Austin (152) made it 18-0 Troy with a forfeit, while Riley Oakes (160) got NPL on the scoreboard with a fall.
The Mounties cut it to 18-12 with an Easton Cleveland-Pequignot (172) forfeit, but Troy took the next three matches, beginning with Ryland Breidt (189) getting a fall.
Kael Millard (215) followed with a 14-6 win over Braden Roupp, then Reed Palmer (285) earned a fall to put the Trojans up 22 points.
NPL’s comeback came when Bodhi Nickerson (107) scored an 11-2 major decision over Garret Parks.
Bryce Pequignot (114) followed that with a fall, while Aivian Whitteker (121), and Charles Aumick (127), both had forfeits. Brayden Pequingot (133) secured the win with a fall.
Troy is off to Athens on Thursday.
