TOWANDA — A rough second quarter doomed Towanda in their 61-50 loss to NP-Mansfield during NTL boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Tigers out scored Towanda 17-5 in the second, which proved to be the difference in the game.
Markel Garner had 15 points to lead Towanda as Darrius Farrell netted 11. Graham Welles, and Bayley Poll both scored six, as Boom Thompson, and Landon Clark had four points each.
Ben Shrawder, and Connor Barnes chipped in with two points apiece.
Alex Davis led NPM with 17 points, while Brady Stetter scored 15, and Tayton Strange netted 12.
NPM led 17-16 after one as Davis notched eight points for NPM, while Farrell and Garner had seven points apiece to pace Towanda.
In the second Strange went off for seven points as the Tigers took a 34-21 lead at the half.
Garner helped Towanda bounce back in the third quarter, scoring six of his team’s 13 points, but NPM continued to pull away, pushing their lead to 49-34.
In the fourth Towanda out scored the Tigers 16-12, but couldn’t quite close the gap.
Towanda (6-6) hosts Wyalusing on Thursday.
