CANTON — Canton wrestlers won another close one on Thursday, beating NEB 40-24 during NTL action.
The Warriors won seven bouts, the Panthers took four, with two double forfeits.
NEB led 6-0 when Russell Martin (145) scored a fall over Tommy Preston in 2:36.
Canton took four of the next five bouts as Manuel Halbfoerster (152), and Lawrence Halbfoerster (160) both scored forfeits.
Blane Wesneski (172) pinned Connor Eastabrook in 2:24, then, after a double forfeit at 189, Leland Pepper (215) scored a 12-1 major decision over Carsen Perkins to take a 22-6 lead.
A Ben Ellis (285) forfeit, followed by a Mason Alexander (107) pin of Levi Vermilya in 1:03 cut the deficit to 22-18.
Canton took three of the next four matches as Carson Castle (114) earned a forfeit, Lyle Vermilya (121) pinned Hunter Comstock in 3:29, and at 133 Ethan Brasington scored a forfeit, pushing their advantage to 40-18.
Alex Gomez (139) pinned Carson Tillotson in 1:55 for the 40-24 final.
Canton travels to Towanda on Friday with NEB off until next week.
