Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — Wyalusing won five bouts but still fell to Horseheads, 41-18, during non-league wrestling action Thursday.
The Raiders jumped out to a 12-0 lead as Nate Miller (121) scored a forfeit followed by decisions from Joel Scibek (127), 10-4 over Bostyn McMicken, and Adrian Bacon (133), 6-5 over Jackson Fischer.
Wyalusing’s Cole Patrick (139) returned from injury for his first win, earning a 17-1 tech fall over Kole Zufall in 2:48. His teammate Reuben Kinney (145) picked up a 12-8 decision over Jack Clate to cut it to 12-8.
Horseheads made it 18-8 as Zachary Schrage scored a fall at 152.
Wyalusing’s Ayden Hunsinger (160) followed that up with a 4-1 decision over Coleton Owen to make it 18-11.
Horseheads then got a fall from Jaxson Burchard to extend their lead to 24-11.
Ethan Vanderpool (189) picked up a 17-10 decision over Jonah Lamb to make it 24-14, with an unsportsmanlike call against Horseheads cutting it to 23-14.
Horseheads then got three straight falls from Hunter Lavigne (215), Seamus Carroll (285), and Mason Vanderhoff (107) to go up 41-14.
Wyalusing got the final win as Isaiah Harvey (114) scored a 15-4 major over Tanner Knapp.
Wyalusing is off until next week.
