LAPORTE — Sullivan County boys’ basketball broke a 4-game losing streak thanks to a fourth quarter rally to beat Bucktail, 59-56, during Mid-Penn boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Bucks led 43-42 going into the final frame but a 17-point fourth quarter from the Griffins gave them the win.
Four Sullivan players hit double figures, led by Tucker Blasi’s 15 points. Cayden Smithkors added 13 points, as Lucas King finished with 12 points.
Ryan Murray had 10 points and eight boards, while Colin King notched six points, seven boards, and four steals.
Dominic Marotti chipped in with three points.
Ethan Charcalla led the Bucks with 16 points.
It was a slow start for Sullivan as Bucktail took a 15-6 first quarter lead. The Griffins punched back in the second, paced by nine points from Smithkors, to cut the deficit to 25-22 at the half.
The offenses were off to the races in the third, with the Griffins edging Bucktail, 20-18, in the frame behind five points from Lucas King.
Blasi then took over in the fourth, scoring nine of his team’s 17 points to get the win.
Sullivan won the JV game 29-24 as Carter Blasi and Landon Bahr had eight points each.
Sullivan (8-6) is at Sayre on Monday.
