Northern Tier Sports ReportTROY — Canton edged Troy in NTL dual match action to punch their ticket to the District IV Duals Tournament, pulling out a 40-31 victory.
Before hand Troy fell to Williamson 54-22.
In the Troy-Canton match Trojan Reed Palmer (285) got a forfeit to put Troy up 6-0.
Canton, though, won the next four weights to take a 24-6 lead. Levi Vermilya (107), and Henry Proseus (121) both got forfeits, while Carson Castle (114), and Lyle Vermilya (127) earned falls.
Troy took the next two as Keagan Kerr (133) got a fall, followed by Marcus Frisbie (139) scoring a tech, cutting it to 24-17.
Tommy Preston (145) would get a 12-0 major over Logunn Heasley as Canton extended the lead to 28-17.
Carter Austin (152) struck back with a tech for the Trojans for a 28-22 score.
At 160 Canton’s Manuel Halbfoerster got a pin for a 34-22 score with three weights left.
Troy’s Rylan Breidt (172) got a 7-2 decision over Blane Wesneski to make it 34-25, but a Leland Pepper (189) forfeit secured the win for Canton.
Kael Millard (215) finished things off with a forfeit for Troy.
Against Williamson the Warriors took the first six weights to go up 36-0, then secured the win with a fall at 139.
Keagan Kerr (133), Logunn Heasley (145), and Rylan Breidt (172) all had falls for Troy as Carter Austin (152) scored a 12-4 major decision over Anthony Baker.
