
WELLSBORO — Troy used a big second half to pull out a 46-34 win over Wellsboro during NTL girls’ hoops action Tuesday.
Wellsboro led 21-17 at the half, but the Trojans out scored them 29-13 in the second half to win their 13th straight game.
Giana Renzi paced the Trojans with 16 points, as Kailyn Sterling, and Gloria Andrews netted nine points apiece.
Alyssa Parks added eight points, with Madelyn Seeley scoring four.
Chloe Brandenburg had 13 points to lead the Hornets, with Paige Logsdon adding 12.
Renzi had seven of her team’s nine first quarter points but Brandenburg hit three 3-balls in the opening frame to put Wellsboro up 13-9.
Logsdon added six points in the second as both teams had eight points each.
Troy got going in the third, out scoring Wellsboro 14-9 as Parks scored five, and Sterling netted four.
They pulled away in the fourth, out scoring the Hornets 15-4 behind seven more points from Renzi.
Troy (18-4) will host Canton on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the NTL Showdown Tournament.
