NTL WRESTLING: HUNSINGER EARNS NORTH SECTION TITLE FOR WYALUSING, AS THEY SEND SIX THROUGH TO DISTRICTS (2025-02-16)

WELLSBORO — Wyalusing had a strong day at the North Section Tournament on Saturday. They crowned one champion in Ayden Hunsinger, pushed six along to the District IV Championships, and took second as a team.

“We’ve got six going on, we had three last year, so we doubled that,” said Wyalusing coach David Patrick. “We finished second in team scores, that was good. We did a large body of work the last two weeks, we did a bunch of joint practices with New York teams and stuff. It all paid off today, so I’m happy.”


The Rams finished with 140 points, edging out Williamson (132) for silver as Towanda (236.5) pulled away for the team title.


Hunsinger (152) went 2-0 on the day for the win, getting a 9-3 decision in the semifinals, then pulling out a 5-3 win over Towanda’s Rylee Sluyter in the finals.


Cole Patrick (139) took home second, as Jonathan Earle (145), and Bostyn McMicken (121) both took home third. Isaiah Harvey (114), and Daniel Fox (215) came away with fourth place finishes.


Patrick opened with an 18-8 major decision, then got a decision in the semifinals. He lost in the finals, 8-4, to Towanda’s Reese Sluyter.


Earle opened with a fall, then lost by fall in the semifinals. He got back to back pins in the consolation to take home bronze.


McMicken opened with a 14-4 win, then lost by fall in the semifinals. He also came back with back to back falls to take third.


Harvey opened with a fall, then lost a tough 10-8 decision in the semifinals. He back with a fall in the consolation semifinals, but then fell 5-1 in the third place match.


Fox opened with a loss, but came back with a 16-1 win in the consolation semifinals. He third place match he lost 8-5.


Reuben Kinney (160), Jackson Fischer (127), and Ethan Vanderpool (189) all took fifth place, as Marshall Huston (133), and Brenden Wells (285) came in sixth.


Kinney went 2-2, as Fischer and Vanderpool both went 1-2. Wells also went 1-2, as Huston went 1-3, while Conner Earle (172) going 1-2, and Shane Keblitsch (107) going 0-2.


The Rams will now prepare for the District IV Championships next weekend.


“We’re going to go right back to the joint practices,” Patrick said. “That seems to be the best deal right now. Sometimes you get into a routine too much with some of the practices during the year. We’re going to continue working with those other teams, and preparing ourselves there.”
