Whether it’s hoops or grappling districts is here, with several teams and individuals harboring title aspirations.
WRESTLING
Friday, February 21 - Saturday, February 22
District IV Championships at Williamsport: The tournament start times are 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday morning, and 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. This will be the first year with Class AAA joining them on Saturday so it might be more hectic than normal.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Tuesday, February 17
Southern Columbia (11-11) at Canton (15-7), 7 p.m.: The Warriors play host to a quarterfinal game, but they may get the best team in the districts. The revamped Tigers are led by three freshmen, but Canton comes in playing some of their best ball of the season, ending the regular season on a six game win streak. After a 7-1 start the Tigers have gone 4-10.
East Juniata (6-16) at NEB (17-5), 7 p.m.: The Panthers snuck back up to the top seed as they take on an EJ team that’s lost their 13 games after starting the year 6-3. NEB went 6-1 in their last seven regular season games.
Thursday, February 19
Mt. Carmel (10-12) at Troy (18-4), 6 p.m.: Troy comes in on a 15-game win streak, including the Showcase. The Red Tornadoes have gone 3-3 in their last six, including a 51-27 loss to Central Columbia, a team lost to in OT to start the season.
Friday, February 20
Wyalusing (13-9) at Towanda (14-8), 7 p.m.: These two teams can’t seem to get away from each other. The Knights picked up a pair of narrow wins during the season, and come in 11-2 in their last 13 games. The Rams went 2-3 over their final five games, ending the season with a close loss at Athens.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Wednesday, February 18
Montgomery (14-8) at NEB (14-8), 7 p.m.: The Panthers hung onto the third seed as they welcome the Red Raiders. NEB went 3-2 in their last five regular season games, including a big win over Sayre, while Montgomery also went 3-2 over their final five games.
Thursday, February 19
Towanda (13-9) at Warrior Run (17-5), 7 p.m.: The Black Knights hit the road to open the playoffs. Towanda went 3-1 over their final four games, including a big win over Wellsboro. Warrior Run was up-and-down at the end of the regular season, going 3-3 over their final six.
Bloomsburg (12-10) at Troy (19-2), 7:30 p.m.: The Trojans will welcome a Panthers squad that went 2-3 to get into the playoffs. Troy hasn’t lost a game in 2025, riding a 17-game win streak into the playoffs.
