Saydi Renzo has been a stalwart for the Trojans on the soccer pitch since her freshman year, but after her senior season this coming fall she’ll be lacing them up for the Misericordia Cougars.

The junior has chosen to suit up for Misericordia’s soccer team starting in 2026.

“I decided to pick Misericordia because of its competitive soccer program and the direct entry program for Physical Therapy,” explained Renzo.

She’s been a fan of the Dallas area school since the very beginning.

“I like everything at Misericordia,” Renzo said. “It’s a small campus so everything is in walking distance. The soccer program is top 10 in the nation so it’s very competitive. I can also earn my doctorate degree in PT by doing all of my classes on campus. When I met Coach Stauffer at the first ID camp I went to, I felt very comfortable and knew I was going to fit perfectly into the culture.”

While many athletes usually wait until sometime during their senior season to declare, Renzo was comfortable making the decision a year early.

“It does feel good knowing that I have a place to go to that I love after high school,” she said. “It’s a weight taken off of my shoulders. Now I can focus all of my attention towards my senior year of high school without worrying about where I’m going to end up at.”

Renzo still has plenty to play for her senior season. They have an NTL title to defend, and, after reaching the District IV, Class AA semifinals last year, a team goal of getting to a final in 2025.

“To get ready for this upcoming soccer season, I’m just going to continue to be in the gym and on the ball as much as possible,” she said. “I like to get as many girls together as possible before pre season starts, so girls can get comfortable with each other quicker and so we all know what our end goal as a team is so we can start working towards that.”
