
WYALUSING — Troy jumped out fast as they defeated Wyalusing, 15-2 in five innings, during NTL baseball action Tuesday.
The Trojans scored eight in the first, and five more in the second as they built a 13-1 lead en route to the win.
Brendan Gilliland (2-for-4) had a triple, a double, three runs scored, and an RBI for Troy, as Reed Palmer (2-for-3) had 2-RBI.
Camden Allen (2-for-2) had a double, two runs scored, and an RBI, with Logunn Heasley (2-for-3) scoring twice, with 2-RBI.
Mason Smith (1-for-2), Joseph Frye (1-for-4), and Evan Woodward (1-for-3) all scored, as Jack Burbage, and Trey Teribury had two runs each. Lincoln Chimics (1-for-4) added a hit.
Reed Palmer went four innings in the win to strikeout two, as Frank Harper pitched the final inning, with one strikeout.
Marshall Huston (1-for-3), Isaac Shaffer (1-for-1), and Eric Ostrowski (1-for-2) had the Wyalusing hits, as Shaffer, and Logan Norton both scored. Huston also had an RBI.
Owen Brown started, and didn’t record an out, allowing two hits, and two runs.
Jared VandeMark pitched 3 2/3-innings with five strikeouts, six hits, one walk, and eight runs. Ashton VandeMark went the final inning, allowing three hits, and one run.
In the first Smith drew a lead-off walk, then scored on a Frye single. Frye scored on Gilliland’s tripe, then Gilliland found home on Palmer’s hit for a 3-0 lead.
After an out Allen doubled, followed by Teribury driving in two on an error off his bat. Teribury later stole home for a 6-0 lead. Heasley and Woodward would later score on steals for an 8-0 lead.
In the second Allen would clear the bases for an 11-0 lead, followed by Heasley driving in Teribury. After an out Heasley would score on a wild pitch for the 13-0 lead.
Wyalusing got one back in the bottom half as Norton scored on an error. Shaffer later scored on a Huston hit for a 13-2 lead.
Troy got one back in the fourth as Smith brought in Teribury, then in the fifth Palmer drove in in Gilliland for the 15-2 final.
Troy (2-1) will host NP-Mansfield on Thursday while Wyalusing (1-4) welcomes Athens.
