NTL BASEBALL: TROY PULLS AWAY FROM WELLSBORO (2025-04-22)

WELLSBORO — Troy broke a 7-7 tie after three, out scoring Wellsboro 7-0 in the final four innings to get the 14-7 NTL baseball win Tuesday.

The Trojans led 6-0 after one, and 7-0 midway through the second. The Hornets tacked on five runs in the bottom half of the inning, then scored two more in the third to knot things up at 7-all.


A 3-run fourth got the momentum back on Troy’s side. They added another run in the fifth, then scored three more in the seventh to secure the win.


Brendan Gilliland (2-for-4) had two doubles, three runs scored, and an RBI,a s Lincoln Chimics (2-for-3) scored twice, and had 2-RBI.


Reed Palmer (3-for-5) had a double, with three runs scored, while Joseph Frye (3-for-5) had a double, two runs scored, and 2-RBI.


Trey Teribury (2-for-4) scored a run, with Evan Woodward (1-for-4) driving in two runs. Mason Smith (1-for-4) scored twice, with Camden Allen driving in a run, and Logunn Heasley scoring a run.


Allen started, and 1 2/3-innings with two strikeouts, two walks, five hits, and five runs, one of which was earned.


Frank Harper went the final 5 1/3-innings for the win, striking out two with three walks, six hits, and two earned runs.


In the first Smith led off with a walk, then scored on a Gilliland double. An error off the bat of Palmer drove in Gilliland for a 2-0 lead.


Chimics singled in Palmer, then he scored on a steal of home for a 4-0 score.


Frye would reach on an error, then scored two batters later on a Woodward fielder’s choice.


Teribury would single, then found home on an error off the bat of Heasley to make it 6-0.


In the second Palmer doubled then was plated by a Chimics hit for the 7-0 score.


In the fourth Palmer hit a 1-out single to get things started, followed by Chimics drawing a walk. A Frye double scored Palmer, followed by Chimics scoring on an Allen ground out for a 9-7 lead.


Woodward then singled in Frye to make it a 3-run game.


In the fifth Gilliland would hit a double, then scored on an error off the bat of Chimics.


Heasley opened the seventh by reaching on an error, followed by Smith hitting a single. Heasley would score on a passed ball, while Gilliland would draw a walk.


After an out Chimics walked to load the bases, setting up a sacrifice fly by Frye which brought home Smith for a 13-7 score.


Gilliland would score on a passed ball for the 14-7 final.


Troy (7-4) hosts Athens on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
