NTL BASEBALL: CANTON BASEBALL PULLS AWAY FROM SAYRE (2025-04-23)

SAYRE — Canton pulled away from Sayre for a 13-5 win in NTL baseball action Tuesday, sweeping the season series.

Sayre led 2-1 after one, then pushed that lead to 3-1 in the third. Canton tied it up at 3-all in the fourth, then out scored Sayre 4-2 in the fifth for a 7-5 lead.


The Warriors would ice the game with three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings for the win.


Ben Fitch (3-for-5) had a home run, 4-RBI, and three runs scored as Michael Beers (3-for-4) had a double, 2-RBI, and three runs scored.


Zack Colton (2-for-3) had a double, two runs scored, and 2-RBI, as Rylan Wesneski (1-for-4) had a double with a run scored.


Carson Castle (1-for-4) scored twice as Bailey Gardner, and Isaiah Colton both found home. Gardner, and Aaden Dowling (1-for-4) each had an RBI.


Reed Taylor started, and went three innings with five strikeouts, two walks, three hits, and three runs, two of them earned.


Colton went the next two innings to get the win, striking out one with two walks, five hits, and two earned runs.


Beers tossed the final two innings with four strikeouts, and two walks.


In the first Fitch led off with a hit, then scored on a Beers single.


In the third Beers led off by getting beaned, followed by Colton reaching on a dropped third strike. Beers would score on an error off the bat of Taylor for a 3-2 score.


A Dowling ground out brought in Colton to knot the game up at 3-3.


Canton went with two outs in the fifth, beginning with Gardner getting hit by a pitch. Beers and Colton followed with back to back doubles to score two runs for a 5-3 lead.


An error off the bat of Tayler made it 6-3 Canton, with Dowling keeping the rally going with a hit. Isaiah Colton then scored on a wild pitch at the next at bat for the 4-run lead.


After Sayre cut it to 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth Canton responded in the sixth as Castle hit a 1-out single, then scored on a Fitch hit. Fitch later scored on a Gardner ground out.


A Beers single kept the inning alive, setting up a Colton hit that brought Beers in to make it 10-5.


In the seventh Wesneski hit a double, followed by Castle reaching on an error. Fitch then plated them with a home run for the 13-5 final.


Canton (3-7) travels to CV on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
