NTL BASEBALL: CANTON FALLS AT CV (2025-04-24)

WESTFIELD — A pair of 4-run innings doomed Canton as they fell to CV, 8-3, in NTL baseball action Thursday.

Canton led 1-0 in the middle of the first but the Indians rallied with four runs in the bottom half. The Warriors cut it to 4-3 in the second, but wouldn’t score the rest of the way.


CV got four insurance runs in the fourth to get the win.


Ben Fitch (2-for-4) had a double with an RBI and a run scored for Canton as Reed Taylor (1-for-3) also had a double.


Mason Stierly (1-for-2), and Aaden Dowling both scored as Bailey Gardner (1-for-4), Michael Beers (1-for-4), and Zach Colton (1-for-4) all had hits. 


Holden Ward saw his first action, driving in two runs on the day. He also got the start, but left after an inning, striking out one with two walks, three hits, and four runs.


Taylor tossed the next three with six hits, one strikeout, and four runs. Colton went the final two with two strikeouts, and one hit.


Fitch opened the game with a double, then scored on a Ward sacrifice fly for the 1-0 lead.


In the second Stierly opened up play with a hit, followed by Dowling getting a walk. After a ground out an error off the bat of Fitch allowed Stierly to score for a 4-2 game.


Ward then grounded out to drive in Dowling to make it a 1-score game.


The Warriors threatened in the sixth and seventh, but couldn’t push any runners across.


Canton (3-8) will host Bucktail on Saturday with a 10 a.m. start.
