The last full week of April saw some big games on the diamond as league races heated up, while Wyalusing’s Lasagna Invitational did not disappoint when it came to performances.
On the girls’ side NEB’s Makenna Callear had her best outing of the season in her team’s crucial win over Williamson to stay in the NTL Small School race. She went 6 2/3-innings with four strikeouts, four walks, three hits, and two runs, earning her the Female Athlete of the Week honors.
For the boys Troy’s Lincoln Chimics had two big games as Trojans pulled to within one game of the NTL Large School league in baseball. He went 4-for-5 with five runs, and 3-RBI in the two wins. At Lasagna Wyalusing’s Dylan Johns put on a show for the home crowd, winning the high jump at 6-feet, 6-inches, three inches over the state standard. Both are Co-Male Athletes of the Week.
