
EAST TROY — Troy scored in four of five innings as they pulled away from Wyalusing, 13-3 in five innings, during NTL baseball action Tuesday.
The win sets up a big match-up for the Trojans as they head to NP-Mansfield on Thursday with district seedings and NTL Large School standing implications.
The Trojans led 3-2 after one, then tacked on four more in the third. They added a run in the fourth, then scored five more in the fifth to get the win.
Brendan Gilliland (3-for-4) had three runs scored for Troy as Joseph Frye (1-for-3), Camden Allen (1-for-3), and Frank Harper (1-for-1) each had an RBI. Frye and Allen also scored.
Lincoln Chimics (1-for-1), Trey Teribury (1-for-3), and Jack Burbage all scored, with Mason Smith crossing home twice.
For Wyalusing Kenny Mapes (2-for-3) had a 2-run home run, as Logan Norton (1-for-3) double, and scored a run. Eric Ostrowski (1-for-2) doubled, and also scored.
In the first Norton led off the game with a double, then scored on a Mapes long ball over the left field fence to make it 2-0 Rams.
Troy answered in the bottom half of the inning as Smith reached on an error, followed by Gilliland hitting a double.
A fielder’s choice off the bat of Palmer allowed Smith to score, followed by Chimics drawing a walk. A Frye ground out brought in Gilliland, then an Allen ground out plated Palmer to make it 3-2.
In the third Palmer, Chimics, Frye, and Allen all scored to put the Trojans up 7-2. Ostrowski would score in the top of the fourth for a 7-3 ball game.
Gilliland would score off a Palmer hit in the bottom half of the inning to make it 8-3. Then in the fifth Wyalusing wasn’t able to get an out as Teribury, Burbage, Smith, Gilliland, and Palmer all scored to secure the win.
Troy (9-4) travels to NP-Mansfield Thursday, while Wyalusing (3-10) hosts South Williamsport on Wednesday.
