NTL BASEBALL: WHEATON'S NO HITTER POWERS TOWANDA PAST WILLIAMSON (2025-05-08)

TIOGA JUNCTION — Towanda’s Jack Wheaton threw a complete no hitter as the Knights rolled past Williamson, 9-0, during NTL baseball action Thursday.

Wheaton struck out five with one walk in the victory.


Towanda had four runs in the third, a run in the sixth, and four runs in the seventh as they took advantage of eight Williamson errors.


Wheaton (2-for-4) also had a triple with an RBI while Jack Tavani (2-for-3) had a triple, 2-RBI, and three runs scored.


Gianni Assante (1-for-4) and Dawson Butts (1-for-4) both scored twice as Boom Thompson (1-for-4) scored and drove in a run.


Lucas Vincent (1-for-1) had 2-RBI with Rylee Sluyter scoring, and Wil Shrawder also driving in a run.


In the third Thompson had a 1-out single to get things going, then scored on a Wheaton sacrifice fly. Assante singled to keep the inning going followed by Butts reaching on an error. Tavani would triple both of them in for a 3-0 lead.


Tavani later scored on a passed ball for a 4-0 ball game.


In the sixth Tavani was hit by a pitch to lead things off, then scored on a Shrawder sacrifice fly. 


In the seventh Sluyter opened the inning by reaching on an error, then later scored on a Thompson ground out. Wheaton then singled, followed by Williamson getting Wheaton out on an Assante fielder’s choice.


Butts kept the rally going by reaching on an error, followed by Assante and Butts both scoring on an error off the bat of Tavani to make it 7-0.


Vincent then singled in Butts and Tavani for the 9-0 final.


Towanda will head to Troy on Saturday with a 2 p.m. start.
